So I have a new obsession with feather jewelry apparently. For some reason when I walk into a store I immediately look for something like this from Sowat Paris:
And then I stumbled upon a very very cool ring from the same collection...

bored at work: relevant post secrets

After going through postsecrets.com and realizing that there's no archives of old secrets, I found a site that has all the old ones and I've been reading them all day

My dad has been improving with his photography so much, and I thought I'd show a bit of it here. My parents are in Alaska right now so I guarantee there will be more awesome shots of whales and such to come.

new love: vibrating mascara

While perusing online one day, I read about the latest invention: vibrating mascara. Thinking it was a little gimmicky and probably out of my budget, I forgot about it.

That is, until I was practically forced by a saleswoman at Shoppers Drug Mart to not only buy it, but buy the most expensive, $35 Lancome one because its "the best".

I took my guilt-ridden self back to work and sat at my desk with an insane amount of buyers remorse. Finally, I worked up the courage to go to the bathroom and pull out the little battery tab and give it a whirl.

This is the most incredible thing in the entire world. My eyelashes are long and not clumpy. I feel like I have fake eyelashes on. I mean come on, I'm using technology in my makeup. How cool is that?

Highly recommended. And if you don't want to break the bank, you can get other brands for around $15. But I have to say, the Lancome one even has that "I'm not cheap makeup" smell. Always a plus.

i want

Every time I go to Urban Outfitters I pray that this is on sale... it never is.

At around $180 its pretty steep, despite all its bells and whistles. Fits any iPod, comes with a remote control, has AM/FM radio, microphone input (yes, karaoke), you can plug it into your TV, but best of all, its so damn cool.

I mean, look at the thing.

Birthday anyone?

today's APOD

Ah, solar wind. Who knew it could be so exciting? The first time I saw the Aurora Borealis (northern lights for the non-nerds) it was 3 in the morning in Algonquin park and I had to pee. I couldn't see, the toilet paper was nowhere to be found, and I ran to the nearest tree and grabbed what I prayed wasn't poison ivy. Then I looked up, and had the best bathroom experience of my life. The Aurora was there, in all of its green glowy goodness.

I've never forgotten that, and when today's Astronomy Picture of the Day was this picture from Alberta, it made me a little giddy and nostalgic.
