Ah, solar wind. Who knew it could be so exciting? The first time I saw the Aurora Borealis (northern lights for the non-nerds) it was 3 in the morning in Algonquin park and I had to pee. I couldn't see, the toilet paper was nowhere to be found, and I ran to the nearest tree and grabbed what I prayed wasn't poison ivy. Then I looked up, and had the best bathroom experience of my life. The Aurora was there, in all of its green glowy goodness.I've never forgotten that, and when today's Astronomy Picture of the Day was this picture from Alberta, it made me a little giddy and nostalgic.
